Virgil & Barbara Billings Family Endowment

  • Recipients of this scholarship shall be high school seniors from Terrell, Kaufman or Rockwall ISDs. (Schools may alternate years or as the corpus of the endowment grows, additional interest earnings for scholarships may be awarded to students from more than one school.)
  • The selection of these recipients will be determined by the counselor/advisor of the respective ISD.
  • Preference will be given to a student who has not received multiple scholarships and exhibits a need for financial assistance.
  • Student may major in any discipline or may declare an undecided major.
  • Student must be motivated to attend college with an average GPA range of 2.0-3.0; however, the desire to attend college must be strong. The student must submit an essay describing their determination for a higher education.
  • Scholarship recipient must be admitted to Texas A&M University-Commerce.
  • Based upon available funds, this scholarship will be awarded each semester the student is enrolled at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
  • Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient via e-mail and newspapers.
  • If the scholarship offer is at least $1,000 and you are not a Texas resident, this scholarship will waive non-resident tuition charges. The non-resident tuition waiver will not be received in cash; however, an adjustment will be made to your tuition bill.
  • The scholarship will be credited to my student account 10-days prior to the start of each semester.
  • Failure to meet these requirements may cause my scholarship to be revoked.
