This is a renewable scholarship. Once awarded, the scholarship is automatically renewed each academic year until the student(s) graduates unless the student(s) becomes ineligible academically or fail to re-enroll for classes. Renewal recipients should be reviewed and awarded the scholarship before new applicants are considered.
At the time of applying for this scholarship, the student must be classified as a freshman. The student will then receive the initial disbursement the following semester; as a sophomore.
Preference will be given to students who have completed 12 credit hours, which may include developmental courses at the University; however, if a student has an extreme financial need and is in jeopardy of not being able to continue his or her education, exceptions can be made, as deemed appropriate by the scholarship committee.
The recipient of this scholarship shall be a full-time student in good standing, with a 2.0 GPA or better and must be showing promise. (The donors’ intent is to help needy, ordinary students who might not be star students or honors types.)
Recipients must also exhibit a financial need to remain in college and complete their higher education; however, this scholarship should not replace available grant money, but could replace a loan.
The Dean of the University College shall serve as the chair of the scholarship committee. Students will receive a scholarship of $2,500 each year to be split between semesters.
Thank you note is required.
Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient.
Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause scholarships to be revoked.
This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
