American Electric Power Endowment

  • Recipients of this scholarship shall be registered for a minimum of 12 hours (full-time equivalent) and be majoring in the field of engineering (e.g., industrial, construction).
  • While selection shall be based on a student’s ability to succeed in the demanding field of engineering, additional consideration may also be given to students who are either employees, children or grandchildren of employees or retirees of a company within the American Electric Power Company System (e.g., Southwestern Electric Power Company, Public Service Company of Oklahoma or AEP Texas) that wish to pursue engineering as a career.
  • The Engineering & Technology department is encouraged to use this scholarship as a recruitment tool in an effort to attract students who would not normally attend the university.
  • This scholarship should not be awarded in a student’s last semester of attendance at the university.
  • Past recipients of this award may reapply for the scholarship again in subsequent years as long as the student remains in good standing with the university.
  • Academic performance, department involvement, commitment level to the degree program, and the number of registered hours will be considered in the selection of qualified candidates.
  • Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient.
  • Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause scholarships to be revoked.
  • This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
