Brenda Moore School of Social Work Scholarship Endowment

1) The applicant shall be fully (unconditionally) admitted to the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program at any Texas A&M University-Commerce campus.
2) Applicants must have completed all of the Fall Junior-level Social Work courses with a “B” or better and be enrolled in all of the Spring Junior-level Social Work courses.
3) Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and/or a social work GPA of 3.0 or higher.
4) One scholarship award will be made each academic year (for the following academic year)
5) Applicants must submit a 5-6 page typed, double-spaced narrative application that addresses the following areas:
a. Why you are interested in this scholarship and what makes you a strong applicant for consideration for this particular scholarship?
b. Describe your academic performance in the BSW program and what you have learned, particularly as it relates to macro and policy areas of social work practice. Do NOT use information from textbooks or published materials – these should be your own words
c. What are your goals upon completion of your BSW degree? What areas of practice to you desire to pursue?
d. Describe any volunteer experiences you have had and what you’ve learned from them? How have they helped you or influenced your professional development
e. Describe your commitment and involvement in the BSW Program
f. Any other information you think would be helpful in the committee’s consideration of your application

  • Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient.
  • Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause scholarships to be revoked.
  • This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
