Mayo Foundation Scholarship

To be considered for this award you must:

  • Have completed a minimum of 48 hours prior to this semester and, as of the Fall 2020 term, still need at least 24 semester hours toward completion of your degree.
  • Have a composite GPA of 3.5 or better (transfer and A&M –Commerce credits).
  • Have a GPA of 3.5 or better on all work completed at A&M-Commerce.
  • Have completed at least 15 hours at A&M Commerce during the previous academic year.
  • Be returning to A&M-Commerce for two-full-time undergraduate semesters during the 2020-2021 school year.
  • The scholarship can only be used for 4-year programs, and for undergraduate courses to be completed through Texas A&M University-Commerce.
  • Honors College and Regents Scholars students who apply will have the scholarship designated as an “internal award” and would not realize direct funds (i.e., no refunds would be applied)

Applicants must provide:
• Official Transcripts
• A current degree audit showing the number of hours remaining to be completed after the spring of 2020
• Letter of recommendations (2): The scholarship Committee strongly advises you to obtain these letters from full-time faculty members at Texas A&M University – Commerce, preferably from professors in your major area(s). The Committee also urges you to emphasize to these professors the importance the Committee places upon these letters, which should be addressed to the “Mayo Foundation Scholarship Committee” and received before the due date.
• A one-page resume which addresses:
a) Your participation in campus activities
b) Your contribution to your community life
c) Your work experiences
• Essay of 1500 words or fewer on the topic provided

Note: you may compete only once for this scholarship and the award can only be applied toward undergraduate courses at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Also, please be advised that if you receive financial aid, winning this scholarship may result in your aid being adjusted.

Recipient’s name can be published as a scholarship recipient.
Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause scholarships to be revoked.
This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
