~Tejas Club/Sig Ep Endowment

This scholarship is open to all qualified candidates. The ideal scholarship recipient would be admitted to A&M-Commerce as a freshman and graduate within 4 years. The recipient would have evidence of leadership and service while in high school and continue to be a leader on campus instilling the desire to be a “Lion for Life” and proudly refer to A&M Commerce as “my school”.

For initial awards and renewal awards First Priority will be given to Tejas Club/Sig Ep descendants.

Second Priority shall be given to descendants, as defined below, of individuals who have supported the Tejas, or Sig Ep organizations and helped promote and insure the success of these organizations. A list of these individuals will be provided by the Donor Committee within 90 days of the approval of this document.

In either case, descendant applicants must supply the member?s name, member number (if applicable), contact information and relation to the member for verification and priority consideration. The member must have attended Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The Donor Committee will support the Selection Committee in validating the descendent line of the applicant if needed.

For the purpose of this document, Descendant includes a direct descendant, legally adopted child, or step-child and includes one who is the child of a specified person, at any distance of time or through any number of generations.
Example: Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and continuing, do count. Nieces and Nephews do not count as direct descendants.

With the above stated guidelines in mind, consideration will be given to all classifications of students which meet the following criteria:
1. Full time student status
a. Continuing students: GPA 2.50 (undergraduate – classification of sophomore, junior, or senior), and 3.0 (graduate).
b. Incoming freshmen or incoming transfer students will be considered without a GPA for their initial award.
c. ALL applicants must show evidence of service and leadership (Applicants must submit an essay of 300 words or less describing their leadership experience and service to others)
2. The scholarship is renewable
a. The student must re-apply each year to be considered
b. Scholarship renewal will be based on submission of updated application and supporting documentation, student eligibility and availability of funds.
3. A thank you letter from recipient is required.
4. By accepting the scholarship the recipient agrees that their name, hometown & classification can be published as a scholarship recipient via e-mail and print.
5. Failure to meet the requirements of this scholarship may cause the scholarship to be revoked.

  • This scholarship may entitle an out of state resident to the Non-Resident Tuition Exemption as outlined by the Texas A&M University-Commerce Policy on Non-Resident Tuition Exemption for Competitive Scholarship Recipients.
