Nila McQuary

This scholarship was established in 1988 and represents a means to continue the legacy started by Dr. John P. McQuary.

Dr. McQuary began his employment at A&M-Commerce in September of 1956 as the assistant professor and director of student personnel. He then became the department head of student personnel and guidance from 1968-1985. In 1976, Dr. McQuary received the Distinguished Teacher Award. He served as President of the Texas Personnel and Guidance Association. From 1985-90, Dr. McQuary continued to teach courses under a voluntary modified employment plan. Dr. McQuary passed away on April 11, 2007. He made significant contributions to A&M-Commerce for 34 years.
