Jennifer Collins Huie was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), a rare but deadly form of cancer, while attending nursing school at only 33 years old. This was the same disease that took her mother’s life when Jen was only eight years old.

Through IBC, an often mis-diagnosed form of cancer, Jen found it her calling to spend as much time as possible doing educational programing that would further inform others of this rare but aggressive condition. Jen did all of this while attending school, working full time and enduring cancer treatments.

Jen passed away just three months shy of obtaining her nursing degree and two weeks after her 35th birthday. Her passion, helping others through nursing, was not able to be realized. Before her passing, as a 35th birthday gift for all of the countless souls Jen had touched; her brother, Jason Bone, established the Jennifer Huie Memorial Scholarship fund so that others could fulfill her passion, nursing at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
