Bill, Gloria, and James Aslan

Bill and Gloria Aslan’s association with A&M-Commerce began when Bill accepted a position as an assistant professor of mathematics. Arriving from Ft. Worth, in the summer of 1967, they felt their stay in Commerce would be brief. That all changed when Bill became more and more attached to his “work family” and eventually became a full professor of mathematics.

While Bill charted his course through the mathematics department, Gloria and son James both completed their bachelor’s and master’s degrees from A&M-Commerce, then East Texas State University. After more than four decades of living and working in Commerce, they affectionately call it home.

The Aslan Family supports scholarships benefitting deserving students, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Their generosity is a tangible way of expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the career and educational opportunities they have enjoyed.
